About Kathy Ridpath
Web Design Philosophy
The Internet has changed quite a bit since I uploaded my first website design in 1995. But, in those years, I have made very little changes to my own belief in what makes a website successful:
- A purpose and inspiration for creating the website in the first place
- An attractive, professional, consistent look throughout the website
- A well-planned website structure and navigable menu system
- Information that visitors can find and use
- Marketable products and services
- Someone(s) that feels ownership for the website and keeps it fresh and relevant
Some things have changed since 1995. For one thing it is harder to figure out how to get your website listed near the top of the search results. Still, when I read articles on how to improve search engine placement, it pretty much comes down to the same practices used 10 years ago ... write useful, original content, network with other websites, and take the time to carefully plan the website's structure and navigational system.
